Hall Chair

Josh "Smithy" Smith

Hello Royce!
My names Smithy and (by some absolute cock-up), I’m your hall chair, it’s my responsibility to ensure that all of you have the best Loughborough Experience possible, in what is undoubtedly Loughborough’s number 1 hall! I’m starting my third year in Royce and have loved every minute so far!
As hall chair I am always here for help and advice if you want any as being a third year I am very knowledgeable, e.g. Don’t EVER get with Cheryl…she’ll break your heart… The running of the hall is my chief responsibility, so the people in it are pretty important to me! The first bit of advice I will give you, which I think I mentioned in my horrendously cringe welcome video, is GET STUCK IN! These will be the best times of your life (probably not the best mornings…if you wake up with Chubbs) so make the most of it!
Any questions just post on the fresher’s groups or email me!
See you all in September; keep an eye on the site for updates!

Secretary, Vice Chair

Cheryl "Chezza" Higgins

I came on as Secretary in November and I have to write up the minutes of the committee meetings that include all things discussed at meetings such as dates of IMS games what’s happening in Action and Rag along with any Media or FREEC events or Socials coming up. I have tried to make a detailed set of minutes for the committee with action points of what they need to do and a more general set sent to everyone in Royce with info they may need to know. I got elected vice chair by committee in May. This has increased my workload a lot, as I now ‘look after’ Smithy ;) and the committee. I have to support the chair and liaise to discuss other issues surrounding hall life I’m literally Smithy’s right hand girl and adore him, he is awesome. Smithy and I decide the fresher helpers, (not an easy job at all!) I also got more responsibilities such as helping other areas of the committee organising the decorations for the summer ball.

Treasurer

Hannah "Hanban" Collins

Hello Rays of Sunshine!

My name is Hannah and I work with the Wardens to make sure our Hall's cash balance is healthy!
A warm welcome to all the freshers (and the returners). Very much looking forward to seeing your beautiful beautiful faces! We have an awesome freshers plan in store and even more to come over the next year so be excited! I would like to soften the blow and let all you freshers know I will need to ask you for £71 (Hall Subs) if you have not already paid by the time you arrive. E-shop is a way of paying before you arrive and here is the link:

Social Sec.

Ann-Marie "Mo-Mo" Rossiter

Hey Freshers! I'm Mo-Mo, one of your two Social Secs here in Royce. Very soon after you arrive here, you will realise not only that you've come to the best hall on campus, but that Royce has got a very well know reputation for how hard we party. As a Social Sec we have many jobs, the most important being making your Freshers Week the best week of your lives! I broke my record for nights out in a row during my freshers week which now stands at 24 nights, which I am planning on breaking again this year, with any of you guys who think you can handle the pace! We find out about all the decent events happening in Loughborough weeks in advance, so we can get our hands on the tickets and get them to you guys first, throughout the year. We also are in charge of the Christmas and Summer Balls, our Christmas ball being famous across campus as we are the only hall to make it fancy dress themed! Our main interest during the first few weeks of term is making sure that you guys get to meet everyone in Royce, with regular punch parties held in our common room, and we will be running around trying to get to know all of you to continue making Royce feel like a massive family! Another massive part of being social sec, is knowing the gossip around Royce, budding romances, embarrassing stories, drunken antics, anything that we hear or see, (that we can remember seeing) WILL make it to our slide of shame, projected at lunch and dinner, so if you think you've gotten away with it, you probably haven't! So don't worry if you're not that into your sport and dancing on a night out is about as sweaty as you get, Royce is definitely the place for you! And with Royce being so big on its sport and socialising girls, you get to reap all the benefits of the sporty lads, after the match down at the union, once they've showered.

Cannot wait to meet you all in September!
Much Love Mo-Mo

Male Sports Sec.

Sam "Chubbs" Price

Alright guys my names sam price, otherwise known as chubbs (even though ive got the body of a fuckin athlete), and its my job as sports sec to get you involved in loughborough's renowned intramural sports programme.

You'll be gettting a lot of annoying emails from me and my fellow sport secs over the academic year asking you to play a wide range of sports, so if your not too busy having fun in royce (likely) or studying (unlikely) i urge you to get involved as it is always a really good laugh! If im not too busy being a topBOY or an ultimateLAD you can always come speak to me and ask me what the upcoming IMS events are, and i'll do my best to get you involved!

May the force be with you, all for now, ina bit,

chubbs x

Male Sports Sec.

Ed "Teddy" Hepworth

Hi, my names Teddy and I'm one of the Male sports secs.
My role, along with chubbs, is to organise and run the male IMS sports, which in my eyes we do pretty damn well! This involves a huge amount of work and sleepless nights stressing about who will be good enough to bring the IMS trophy to Royce. You would think the role, along with me being on the Lufbra rugby team would be a great chat up line to all the girls, however my luck hasnt been fantastic so far, so come on girls, cut me some slack!
Other roles I choose to do, is to go and watch the girls sports, such as the womens waterpolo, just to make sure everything runs smoothly (and definatly not to go and watch the talent on display)
So if you want to get involved in IMS or just fancy a chat, gimme a call on 07713139754, and I will be willing to help!
And if you are not getting involved in the actually playing of IMS, make sure you get down to watch, as it's always good to have a bit of support!

Female Sports Sec.

Becky "BT" Taylor

Hi I’m Becky (BT/Taylor),

Being the organised one and Coops being the keeno (Teddy and Chubbs just do what we say :P), we work really well together to get as many Roycians involved in IMS (Intramural Sport) as possible (female, male and mixed sports). This involves organising training sessions and teams/individuals to play and participate in up to 40 sports against the other 15 halls around Loughborough (we came 3rd last year!).

This is the perfect opportunity to get involved in sport (which is much more relaxed than Loughborough sport), from all the mainstream sports to archery, ten-pin bowling and tug of war for example! Also, IMS has a brill social aspect due to the amount of supporters we get down to watch (including the loyal Royce Racoon!) – matches are often warm-up’s before nights out and mini-singoff’s against other halls!

Here’s a link to the IMS page if you want to find out more info!
http://www.loughborough-intramural-sport.co.uk/page/welcome/index.html

Outside of IMS Coops and I are always keen to get involved with other aspects of hall life, from media to RAG and especially socials!{ask Beccy abt her Birthday this year} We are also very approachable and friendly so if you need any advice/help come and find us J - can’t wait for Freshers week! xx

Female Sports Sec.

Jenny Cooper

Hello, I am Cooper.

It is my job along with BT to ensure that us girls do the best possible job at securing the no. one title in IMS (hopefully this yearbeating Faraday) Out of us IMS lot I am probably the most keen Royce person, and this has known to get me carried away when it comes to competition. Thats where Becky helps me out, without her, I would not be at all organised. We like to think we are a winning combo! IMS hassomething for everyone, my personal favourite is waterpolo (Royce girls have been champions for three years running) and with my load mouth and constant enthusiasm I am detrermined to get you all involved in some way or another, whether that is participating or supporting or celebrating (don't mean to brag but we did win 5 trophies this year.) So make sure you buy your IMS shirts and get ready to get involved!

See you soon X

RAG Rep

Adam "Twiggy" Twigg

Maintaining the sexy for the Royce Committee, I’m Twiggy, Rag Rep. I’ve been on committee since November 2010, and have put my all into RAG so far this year. I’ve spent hour after hour raising money in various cities around the UK for RoyceRag, as well as organising the 1st ever Royce 100. Whenever I’m not ragging, I’m out playing hard in the union with members of THE greatest hall on Loughborough Campus. I’ve loved living in Royce Hall over the past year, I’m looking forward to meeting next year’s Freshers, to show them how we do things in Royce!!

RAG Rep

Calum "Frodo" Parker

Hi, my names Calum commonly known as Frodo for my uncanny resemblance to that gorgeous hunk of a hobbit from the multi Oscar winning Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I’m the most recent RAG rep to come on to Royce committee after being voted on in February. My role is to get people involved with RAG in Royce which I would strongly recommend you do. There are regular RAG raids to cities where a group of us go with buckets (that’s collecting buckets girls) to get the general public to donate to a specific charity. It’s a great laugh and you meet so many people especially in your fresher year. There are overnight raids where we get a coach and stay overnight in places such as London and Cardiff which provide a great night out with free transport and then a productive days raiding the next day; eating at nice places before we head back.

We also organise our own events such as hall pub quiz’s which include the infamous gossip round (where all the stories of whose been sleeping with who and “saved for a rainy day” dirt on people come up) which is always hilarious. RAG is a fantastic opportunity to make the most of your university experience and there are few better ways to meet new people if you’re a social person or if you just want to do your bit for charity.

Stash Rep

Billy Harling

'Yooooooo Freshaaaas. I am Billy your Stash Rep.

After taking care of my biggest responsibility - making sure Chubbs (Sam Price - Sports Sec) isn't sharking/being sick on freshers/anyone, it is my job to provide you, the hall, with merchandise. You get your hall ties, sports socks, hoodies, trackies, onesies and anythinggg merchandisey from me - these will be available at various times throughout the year although the most important time to order stash is during FRESHERS WEEK and as soon as IMS events kick off - which for most, will be instantly! It is also my responsibility to relay information from the committee to the rest of the hall and keep the infamous block 22 in check (I am their Block Rep)!

The rest of the committee and I are going to make your freshers week and year absolutely incredible! If you're reading this and you've been accepted by Royce you are lucky to be in THE best hall on campus!!! I look forward to meeting you all September time.

Stash Lovin', Bill x'

Action Rep

Lindsey "L'ill" Hill

Helloooo Freshers!

I am Lindsey and I am your Royce Hall Action Rep. My job is to get all you fresher’s involved with some action (not that kind) this year and to make sure Royce is the best hall for Action on campus!

Action is a great way to get involved, meet new people and work as a team with your fellow Roycians. Action events usually happen every Wednesday afternoon and previous activities have included litter-picking (which gets very competitive!), gardening and helping out at local schools. Although this doesn’t sound the most exciting way to spend your time, it’s always a great laugh and you get a free t-shirt and chocolate bar for taking part! Also, if you want to get involved further, the LSU Action Office runs several local and international projects that you can be a part of as either a project volunteer or a project leader. Its hugely rewarding and looks great on your C.V too, or if you decide to run for Fresher Helper, it’s a great way to show your commitment to Royce, so get involved! If you want to know more about Action or have any questions about Royce feel free to email me on the address below.

I look forward to meeting you in September & have a great summer!

Linds x
