Royce is situated at the heart of the Student Village and was built in the
early 1960’s and was one of the cornerstones of the original student
village. Key features in Royce are Fred – a welded steel sculpture by
Bryan Kneale (originally named Figure) celebrated every year with an
annual St Fred’s day and the ‘torch run’ where students from the Hall run
from Marble Arch in London to Loughborough in order to raise money for
Rag. Royce has a long history of intramural sporting success, and
regards sport a very important part of Royce life.
