Mark King

My name is Mark King and I am the Warden of Royce Hall and a Senior Lecturer in Sports Biomechanics in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences. I live with my wife Norma and our three children Zoe, Ryan and Owen on Campus at Royce Lodge, which is located next to Faraday Dining Hall. As Warden I am responsible for the well being of the Hall. This includes being concerned with the welfare of the students and creating an environment where students may study and socialise, as well as ensuring that the Residential regulations are observed. I'm also responsible for discipline around Hall which sometimes results in fining students for inappropriate behaviour. To ensure the smooth running of the Hall I work with a team of three Sub-wardens and also members of Committee. The Sub-wardens and I work very closely to deal with any issues that arise and there is always one Sub-warden on duty from 6.00pm to 8.00am on weekdays and all day at the weekends. The Sub-wardens deal with the day to day issues like lost keys, fire alarms, broken windows etc. Furthermore I keep the Hall informed of issues arising through email and with meetings with the elected Hall Committee

Hello! Firstly welcome to Loughborough! And to Royce! My name is Liv, I completed my first degree here (Sports Technology) in 2007. I then left Loughborough, spent a year working and came back in 2008. I have since been spending my days camped out in the Wolfson School as a PhD student (Biosensor Technology). During my time here I have been involved in pretty much everything Loughborough has to offer - hall committees, clubs, societies, IMS, RAG, Action, departmental groups - I've tried the lot in some form or other. I'd thoroughly recommend getting involved in as much as you can while you are here! The sub-wardens - Rachel, Ed and I - are here to help you guys outs wherever we can. If you're struggling with anything at all about university life we can usually find ways to help. We are also Royce’s resident fire marshals, first aiders and disciplinarians, so you will certainly see us around at some point. Looking forward to meeting you! Liv x
