HALL CULTURE

One of the most important parts of Royce!

Sport

Sport is a massive part of life in Royce, competing in over two dozen different Intramural Leagues. Royce are long standing Badminton champions, with our warden team competing for AU. Moreover, our football teams have had major success recently with our B team winning the league and our A team getting to the cup final in 2023. Another major part of sport in Royce are the ODEs (One Day Events) which we compete in regularly. There are so many sports to choose from, catering for a range of different abilities there is something for everyone to get involved with!

Rivalry

Unfortunately we share a dining hall with our long standing rivals, Faraday. We have a fierce rivalry with our orange counterparts, competing against them regularly in all different capacities. An IMS game against them is always worth going down to watch, we even have a number of chants calling out our rivals! In recent years Royce has shown them who’s boss, but we need your help to keep it that way! UP THE ROYCE!!!

Social

Royce is one of the most sociable halls on campus, you’ll always see some Royceans at a Hey Ewe! We regularly put on events in our common room throughout the academic year. Some of the key highlights throughout the year are our 2 balls, alongside refreshers week.

St Fred's Day

St Fred is Royce Hall’s patron saint and every year Royce dedicates a day to him. Our hall day is one of the best days of the academic year with inflatables, punch and a BBQ provided. The whole community gets involved, and for the last couple of years students from all over campus have come along to attend.

Royce 100

One of the best days in Royce is our annual Royce 100, bringing the community together for our largest charity event of the year. Everyone looking out their windows getting involved, through running or cheering them on. With the day finishing off with a High Table, raising a toast to the memories made earlier in the day.
